Thanks for the feedback Mike. The short answer is that 32 is between 22 and 38. Those bases are covered pretty well. I'm looking for something novel ( atleast to me) and i know the HR's are pretty well made. That said, as a reloader and caster i can work with a wide variety of components including black powder. I think the 32 would be fun and relatively inexpensive to dink around with.

i had an old(1902), 2.5" iver johnson top break in .32 s&w(short) that was my great grand fathers. i scrounged 50 brass, and borrowed a 90gr swc .313 mould. cast 200 boolits.

loaded with black powder it was such a smooth shooting gun. very gentle recoil.

I enjoy shooting my 32 revolver. The one I have is way above your price point. It's a Ruger Blackhawk Buckeye Special. 32 H&R Mag / 32-20 convertible. I have a custom 3 cavity mold that drops both plain base and gascheck bullets of 95 grains. This combination allows me to load from mild to wild and get over 70 bullets per pound of lead.

I have the Ruger Single Sevin 327 Fed Mag and it shoots from above 30 Carbine power to mild 88gr bullets at 750fps. It goes well with my Henry Big Boy Steel Carbine 327.
I believe Ruger is making a Single Six in 32 H&R Magnum now also.
I can shoot 32 ACP, 32 S&W Short and Long, and 32 H&R Magnum in the Ruger.
