Guys, this is the day to bombard these Legislators with e-mails asking them to OPPOSE HB-13. Very important to get these e-mails on their way THIS MORNING!

And don't just be satisfied with YOU sending e-mails yourself; get your friends, relatives, peers, acquaintances, email contacts, etc....to also act.

These Legislators' staff will tell them how many e-mails they are getting!!!!!

No comedy about this today from me, I will writes some sample e-mails if anyone needs.

    Oppose HB 13

    Honorable Representative________________

Please oppose HB 13 when it comes up for vote today.

If passed, this Legislation will put unnecessary restrictions on a law abiding State citizens Constitutional Right to legally obtain a firearm for personal or home protection, hunting, or any other legal recreational means by forcing our fellow citizens to show proof of training before purchasing a legal firearm from a legally licensed firearms dealer.

The US Constitution and the Louisiana State Constitution provides that a legal Louisiana citizen’s Right to bear arms shall not be infringed. This is blatant infringement of that Constitutional Right.

Please oppose HB 13 when it comes up for vote today.

As a law abiding citizen of this state, I adamantly oppose any effort to restrict, hinder, alter, or delay the legal avenue to purchase a firearm for my personal use. This measure to require proof of training before that process can be completed disregards and contradicts the spirit of the 2nd Amendment.

    Please vote no!

    Representative ______________

    Against HB 13

I am a registered voter and I would like you to please vote against HB 13 when it comes before your committee next week. It is a measure to force law abiding citizens of our state to obtain firearms safety courses before purchasing legal firearms from licensed dealers.

The measure will cost us $100+ to get the training required by the bill. This is a tax on the exercise of a fundamental constitutional right. It is analogous to the poll taxes of the Jim Crow era that required people to pay to exercise their right to vote. Just as that was an infringement on a fundamental constitutional right, so is the requirement of HB 13.

HB 13 is a de facto waiting period for new gun owners. Because of the popularity of concealed carry classes, there is frequently a waiting list for attendance. Further, classes are only available on certain days or at certain times which may not fit with the prospective purchaser's schedule or needs. If you perceive an immediate need for a firearm, you will be unable to purchase one. This could place a person in danger under certain circumstances. A right delayed is a right denied.

I count myself among the growing number of Americans who choose to stand up and voice our opinion re our 2nd Amendment right. Thank you for your consideration of my viewpoint on this matter. I believe it is an important issue, for the citizens of Louisiana.

    Sincerely,

This measure will place an unnecessary economic hardship on those individuals that desire to legally purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer. It appears that every anti-gun measure put forth in the name of public safety ends up hurting poorer citizens of this state more than any other. Those citizens that are in lower income brackets have the same Rights as any other, but will be hurt the most by this measure.

Everyone, you can continue to send e-mails throughout the meeting. They get messages from their staff of the traffic coming in on "hot" Bills.
