Here's a little template letter I sent out. Feel free to modify it

I am writing you to voice my support for HB186 that was put forth by Representative Henry. This bill would allow the use of silencers for all legal game animals in Louisiana. Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas all allow the use of silencers for hunting all legal game animals. In order to obtain a silencer an individual must submit an application to the ATF and pay a 200 tax. These application can take up to a year for the ATF to actually approve. Only once they are approved may the individual take possession of the silencer. Silencers are an important safety tool to prevent hearing damage to hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts alike. There are many misconceptions when it comes to silencers, most notably that they completely silence a firearm. This is not the case, it reduces the sound signature substantially but it isn't like the movies. Many opponents of using silencers for all game animals would say it offers an unfair advantage to the hunter, but let me assure you this is not the case. Any animal being shot at suppressed are not is going to know they are being shot at. Deer run at the sound of a bow and a silenced firearm is much louder than the twang of a bow.

This has circled the voting pole a few times now and it has always fallen a little short. I pray to god it does, I will start building and selling and obscene amount of integrally suppressed weapons and such.

We already have an idea of which State Reps will rally against it(can you say big city reps?). It is up to us to contact ALL of them and help them understand the benefits.
I have already put a bug in my state reps ear and will remind him again.

As more and more CLEO's refuse to sign form 4 and if the ATF changes the adm rule for trusts and LLC's this bill becomes moot. Its great for individuals already possessing suppressors. I have contacted both Rep. Henry and Burns about legislation that compels the local CLEO to sign off if no reason exists not too. Other states are putting bills forward concerning this. Tennesse has already a statute on the books.

Our neighbors (TX & MS) allow it. I hope we follow suit. As of now only nuisance animals can be taken with a can in our state.

UPDATE FROM BATON ROUGE ON LEGISLATION EXPANDING HUNTING WITH SUPPRESSORS
Last week, the Senate Natural Resources committee reported out SB 212 by Sen. Rick Ward (R-Port Allen), an NRA-backed bill allowing the use of suppressors while hunting wild quadrupeds. In 2011, the Louisiana Legislature legalized the use of lawfully-owned suppressors for hunting nongame nuisance quadrupeds. Now it's time for Louisiana to join the 28 other states which allow the use of these devices for hunting game animals. Suppressors help prevent hearing loss, mitigate noise complaints, and can increase the safety and enjoyment of the sport for both experienced and novice hunters.

The bill now moves to the full Senate for consideration. Please contact your State Senators and urge them to support SB 212! Email addresses your State Senators can be found here: http://senate.la.gov/Senators/.
You may also reach your Senator by calling (225) 342-2040 and asking to for his or her capitol office.
If you are unsure who your Senator is, please visit http://senate.la.gov/senators/ByAddress.htm

The House Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to hear a similar NRA-supported House measure, HB 186 by Rep. Cameron Henry (R-Metairie), on Wednesday, March 26, at 9:30am in Committee Room 4 of the State Capitol. If you are able to attend, be sure to sign a *green card* in support of the bill; it does not mean you have to actually testify. If you cannot attend, please contact committee members below and urge them to support HB 186:

The only issue with these supressor bills is that it only applies to private land. Wouldn't it be beneficial to include all state and WMA property. There is another bill thats been filed that would allow year long hunting of hogs, but only on private property. State land and WMA property should be included. Not everyone has access to private land.
