    First off, WTH was this person going through NE LA if he was returning from MI? That is over a hundred miles out of the way to get to Natchez.

    I had this happen to me, by a local officer from the town of Baldwin, LA. I was speeding when he stopped me. He gave me a ticket and said if I paid him in cash on the spot, it would not go on my driving record. I was very young and paid the man. He gave me a receipt. I am most certain that after I drove off, all of his copies of the ticket and receipt dissappeared. All I know is that it never showed up on my record. I knew something was up when he told me it was only $50 for the fine for driving 67 in a 55. I chalk it up as a learning experience and laugh about it now.

    Honey! You posted. :D

    I remember that. You bitched for three days. :rofl:

    Here's what happened:

    The suspect did not have the full amount in cash, and requested the deputy escort him to an ATM machine, where he obtained the balance and paid the fine in cash to the deputy. It is not established if the suspect received a ticket or any type of signed receipt for the money. The suspect was then allowed to proceed.

    Comments? WTF?

    Yeaaaa........I 'd just be telling that mutha****er to take me to prison and when it was found that I was of no wrong doing and had no warrant that he could expect to have a big fat lawsuit on his and the departments hands backed by alot more money than the 200 he tried to get from me.

    I received a citation in Kinder, La. once for driving on the shoulder (went around a car trying to make a left hand turn after sitting thru three traffic lights) and guess what; deputy dawg was sitting on the other side of the intersection and pulled the two vehicles in front of me over plus me. After writing the ticket, deputy dawg informed me if I paid the fine before the court date that this citation would not go on my MVR. He then informs me that I could PAY HIM in CASH, CHECK or CREDIT CARD (he had a credit card machine on the front seat). At that point I couldn't help it, so I asked him "So Yall Just Want The MONEY, Right"? He even chuckled at that.:eek3:

    Most louisiana parishes will let you pay the fine, and it not go on your record or to court. I paid a fine in NE LA that way, and one in Walker, la. I have also done the same in MS; I would rather pay it and it got get caught by my insurance, then have it go through the proper channels and it go on my record. I say thank you to all the departments that allow that.

    let me get this straight.

    if you committed a traffic citation, you would rather pay it on the spot and not have it go on you record? i would DEMAND court, and DEMAND it on my record.

    I'll show ME!!!

    I'll answer for my husband since he's notoriously quiet.... It's one thing if you know that is policy or an option depending on department. But it's quite suspicious when this is not SOP.

    In my husband's case, it was the idea of using his speeding violation as a way to make beer money that was found irritating.

    this was in response to the comment a reply or too back, but i wonder mcinfantry what would you do in response to the first situation that was the beginning of this thread. I have no problem paying for tickets on the spot when i was in wrong and violated a law. However, whenever a mother****er starts making up ******** to scare you such as this guy(i've got a warrant on you and if you don't pay i'm gonna take you to the parish prison, and no I'm not going to show you what the warrant was for) my feeling towards that person regardless of what position of authority he's in is, **** you! You don't even have my respect and your no better than the pos mother****ers in my city that leech of the gov't and go around robbing and killing people!I say all of this too myself of course when dealing w/ an officer of the law that is like this.:chuckles: They may be POS but they still have the law on their side, so always polite,"yes sir, no sir". However within that I don't give in to any taunts and fear tactics they might pull.

    While this case sounds odd, The older guys from the Baton Rouge area will remember a case in which a certain, Grosse Tete Chief was arrested for something similar

    Beat me to it MC. There's no way for the cop to know what the warrant is for on the side of the road unless someone happened to enter it on the computer when it was issued. And that's not usually the case.

    I'm still trying to figure out why a resident of Natchez , Miss. is referred to as a " damn yankee " ? :confused:

    Well, that is easy, the rest of the family is in MI, that makes 'em a Yankee, and He is residing in the South, Which implies that He stayed, makes 'em a Damn Yankee. See, movin' to tha South and staying makes 'em a Damn Yankee. If they go back, then they just a Yankee...... Oh hell, I give up.
