Looks like its time to shop for a new carrier in louisiana, my renewel just came in the mail and it whent up $2100.00 for the year with Centauri.

My agent says she will shop it around and I figured I'll do some shopping around my self so I'm looking for some sugestions.

I'm a USAA member but they are not writing new policies where I live. I'm with LA Citizens and it's significantly higher than anything mentioned thus far. I think I'm up 400% over the last 5 years. I need to check on that cash-out and GTFO option...

Have those of you using USAA compared prices to other carriers? Every time I shop my policies, I check USAA and it's NEVER competitive, not even close. I'd like to jump over to them, but I'm cheap...

There is no way to win. A hail storm destroyed my roof last December. Since I am a home improvement contractor I decided to invest my time in replacing asphalt shingles with a metal roof so the claim ended up paying for the materials. I really thought that since the risk (hail and fire) on the metal roof is significantly lower that it would lower my premium. Instead when I called my agent I was informed that the metal roof increased the value of the house by $30,000 so still ended up increasing the premiums $300 per year.
