This is for the one or two guys or girls here who may not have had any experience with storing or loading ammo associated with stripper clips. (Yeah, the title is misleading, but it got you here)
Next time you buy a couple thousand rounds, make the extra investment and store it right. I do this with all my 5.56 and 7.62x51 mostly to make it easier for me to load mags come range time.
This is what you'll need. The strippers are usually about $10/hundred and that's enough for 1000rnds, but these are reclaimed used so you might run into a couple that won't make it. And the batch I was working with this go round was full of grit, like they'd been picked up out of the sand.
The silencers (cardboard boxes) are not as available nowadays, but I found some at CTD and they were pricey! $5/dozen. Each box holds 3 clips (30 rounds) so ima need about...67 to store the rounds I'm loading.
Well, that's a start anyway.
Loading up the strippers, 10 per clip, I have a chance to vaguely inspect each round for any obvious flaws.
This batch of XM 193 federal/lake city is prolly the nastiest I've ever seen. These were loaded recently (2012 head stamp) and I blame the big supply-demand push for that. The 1K rounds of 855 I'm loading were bought a couple years back and look much cleaner
3 clips per box
