Hotels in Hammond

If I have ever been to Hammond, it was over 20 years ago. Looking for hotel/motel recommendations. On the Hwy 190 area? Not looking for fancy, just don't know the area, want to be in a relatively good part of town. Google gives me a pretty good range of places. $70 to $80 per night is my budget, can spend more if in a safer area, but would rather not.

I stayed in the La Quinta on Hwy 51 last night. It was alright. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Good breakfast. (Except the gravy and biscuit)

I occasionally have people in for business reasons.
All stay at the Hampton off 190, never had an issue.
