Looks like they are doing the divide and conquer, notice all firearms that would be "protected" are all hunting firearms. This bill was set up as perfect as your could ever imagine. The "hunting" industry will back it up, and most people will shy away from the "assault weapon" crowd. We better get on the ball on this one and fight like hell, cause if any will pass its this one.

The SCOTUS decision is expected either tomorrow or next Thursday. Hopefully it will derail all of this. If not it might be a good idea to start buying stripped receivers and registering them with the NFA. Wouldn't be a bad $350 or so investment (stripped receiver plus $200 to register).

If this is similar to the last ban you'll be able to do anything you want with an NFA receiver.

I don't see this one passing, but if it were to, the man would feel like a jackass when he sees that the mag ban has no effect on the crime levels. A criminal can't get his choppa from the pawn shop legally so he goes to Joe Blow the Crackman and gets it anyway illegally. If they can continue to get the weapons, what makes this guy think they can't get the mags?

The democracts are not likely to move on this before the election. There are several other bills pending that are just languishing in committee. They have alot to lose and know that the anti-gun position will kill them with blue collar whites who they need in order to win.

The Heller decision will not make one iota of difference to the anti-gun lawmakers. The time between a law going into effect and it getting ruled unconstitutional is measured in years, especially if you have to wait for the righht test case. If Obama is elected, the make-up of the courts could change.

You really need to worry in 2009.

But I dont think this one should be ignored, well nobody is ignoring it Im sure. Its just Ive never seen one this well put together. Its like they consulted people who know a thing or two about firearms, if they start doing that on a regular basis, there will be a split among gun owners because of human self interest, and preservation. I could imagine some people, or maybe enough that would convince themselves that those evil black rifles really dont have a legitimate sporting purpose. Unless Zombie Shooting becomes an Olympic Event.
