So long story short I get all my tax info together and sit down with turbo tax. 20min later I have all my info in the comp and it says I owe $1200 bucks!!!:eek3:

I always claim single and none, made in the mid 60's this year, so I dont know where I went wrong. So is there any one in here that has any dealings with someone who does taxes? If so please let me know.

    Thanks,

You need some deductions - any medical procedures? Write off your insurance premiums (you'll need at least 7% of your salary for the deductions)

    I got almost 5k back this year - I LOVE DEDUCTIONS :-D

    ETA - I'm not a CPA - I just sell them stuff....

60K single puts you in 25% bracket and you owe the uncle $11,125. TurboTax compares last year to current year...what are the differences?

So,I am understanding you can deduct your premiums? As in I have $300 a month deducted from my check for health insurance?

What about "co pays" or what insurance does not cover on scripts?

Know a good website I can research deductions?

If your insurance is withheld from your check it's probably through what's called a sec 125 plan or cafeteria plan and is already deducted from your w-2. If not the only way you can deduct medical expenses if all you have is a w-2 is if you have more than 7.5 percent of your agi. And then you have to be able to itemize to get any taxable benefit from medical expenses. I'm a CPA so this is good advice.
