This one was certainly wild, and not normally at the pond, which usually has a number of Canadian Geese and other varieties of wild ducks on it. Last week I saw a wild Mallard on the same large pond maybe 75 feet away from where this photo was taken (it almost flew into my car), which itself is unusual.
wild and tame hacked to wild are vastly different.. I suspect it was likely hatched and raised then decided to move.. they are rarely too
far away from place of hatching..
Definitely a Muscovy duck. They are all over the place in the ponds of United Plaza in Baton Rouge (off Essen Lane). Some people eat them but in my opinion they are nasty! The bills look corroded. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscovy_duck
