    Does anyone have any clue what kind of bug this is? I saw it on a hike in New Mexico last week. I've never seen anything like it and a Google search didn't help.

    I looked up beetles but couldn't find one that looked like it. I guess i should have looked harder lol.

    Yea...googling "beetle" gives me much more respect for entomologist and the study of bugs.
