Lucky girl! Please give us a rundown once you spend some time at the range with it. I bet your brother paid a premium off of gunbroker.
They actually came down to MRSP/Retail prices a few weeks ago. A buddy got one for $100 over retail off GB a couple weeks back and has been playing with it a lot.

    Jury still out on it?
Well it's too new for anyone to have anything conclusive, imo, but the two buddies of mine absolutely love it. The owner is near to saying "**** ar15s" and the other says he's getting one asap and is already selling some of his pocket pistols to fund it. They say the trigger is like a Glock but everything else is amazingly good.

They're eager to see it perform in the next carbine class they take. They take a class or two a year, usually carbine. The owner has a SCAR, few ARs, various AKs in 7.62 and 5.45, ran ARs and the SCARs in classes, and I've seen videos of his times with the AK and he's good with that too. He's an owner of a wrecker company in East Saint Louis - basically as close as you can get to a war zone domestically, I think. And he is in the business of taking people's cars. So yea, he's a man who prepares to overcome violence. lol.

Everything they talked about and had videos of was pretty good - mag changes, shooting drills, etc. Looked good. Said it ran flawlessly so far, though under 1k rounds I would guess. Height over bore is no different than a regular AR, they said, or at least not different enough to matter, if anything.

I have no reason to want one, and I already have ARs to fill "that niche" and I'm ok SBR'ing an AR for a short-length carbine. Though... you can keep 16" barrel performance with a short package so it's not to say it's without benefit.

i wouldn't go through EStL with anything less than a minigun haha. I can't imagine living in Illinois and owning the above mentioned actually.

    Pretty small review on m4c

    http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=133950

Something worth noting, they apparently make a version with the mag release in a position similar to the AR. Dunno why they wouldn't make them all that way.

Yeah we have to wait on the X95 / mini tavor to come out. IWI previously stated it will be an SBR-only release but we'll see if it ever comes to fruition. I'm waiting on the X95.

Might consider getting one, but I already have an AUG A3 which is also a great gun and they're too similar for me to want to own both. I'd have to have some hands on time with one before deciding whether or not to sell my AUG for one.

AUG is a platform designed in the 60's and 70's.

Tavor is a platform designed in the 90s and 21st century.

There's a little more to it than AR mags, and I think you can still get a factory Steyr NATO stock to accept AR mags.

But honestly would all the differences be noticeable by someone like me? Probably not.

Agreed. My point is from a factory point of view, both are bullpups, both are battle proven and other than that, about the only major difference is the use of OEM ar mags in the tavor. Personally I like the tavor better. Price point is the same now for either rifle.

It was a custom job from them...250$ for dip on top of the rifle price. I bought it dipped for the price people were paying for stock tavors, they never jacked there prices when the gun scare came into play so I did alright.
