log in to your account and authorize your new computer through the itunes store. If you have 5 computers already authorized you will have to unauthorize one to get he new computer to work or you can reset all your authorizations in your account and start over.

I just authorized and it said this computer is 3 out of 5. And I still can't get the damn thing to sync to either

i've got the exact same issue right now with a brand new 3gs phone, says i can sync but will lose all data synced from previous library

Set the phone to Hard Drive mode and copy all the song data out of it. You can re-sync the songs and stuff after that.

I don't remember if it's a real pain in the ass to get the songs to re-tag though. They'll come out nameless.

Damn...Imagine the problems this would cause with an iPad.

If all else fails, talk to the geeks at Apple....
