    Mid-Range/Prone Match Report

    July 6, 2013

All week the chance of rain kept hovering around 60-70% for Saturday. After consulting several weather forecasts, it was decided on Friday to go ahead with what has been labeled THE FIRECRACKER 600. However, though the shooting was hot, the temperatures were not climbing only into the mid-80’s by match’s end. The rains also held off until after the match so everyone got to load up and get away before it got beyond sprinkles.

27 shooters from Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Florida made the match and with rain clouds forming around mid-match wind conditions became an exercise in patience.

F-Open had 8 shooters and it was a shootout between Jim Suber (Mississippi) and Brian Bowling (Tennessee) right from the start. By the end of the day though, Jim bested Brian by 1 point to take the overall win with a 597-36X and Brian took 1st High Master with a 596-32X. These guys can shoot. And they’re a lot of fun to be around, too.

David McLain (Mississippi) won 1st Master with a 581-17X, besting Wes Cummings (Florida) by 1 point.

FTR had 11 shooters and C.J. Britt (Mississippi) walked away with the win posting a 595-23X. In the Master Class Jade Delcambre (Louisiana) took 1st with a 591-24X. Do it again next month and that High Master card will be on its way, Jade. Wes Powell (Louisiana) came out of the Sharpshooter class to take 1st place in the combined Expert/Sharpshooter/Marksman class posting a Master score of 584-26X. Great shooting, Wes.

Prone side saw 8 shooters with Warren Freeman (Louisiana) posting a 594-24X to take the overall win. Bill Lackey (Mississippi) took the honors placing 1st Master class with a 578-26X. John McGowan (Mississippi) shot a very nice 591-21X to win the Expert class. John is another of those shooters that will be moving up very soon.

Remember the state match is October 5th and 6th.

Thanks to all that came out and helped get the range ready for the match. We will see you next month.

Great job on the match Rick and congrats to the winners. What some tricky conditions to shoot in.
Sure was good seeing our shooting buddies from the surrounding states.
Special thanks to all those that help ready the pits for the match. It got us started early and finished up before the rain.
See y'all at the next one.

Bummed that I had to miss out today. My back has been out and I have trouble getting into my pants. Figured I would spare everybody the sight of me in shorts! Loaded some 80gr SMK just off the lands to try in my SR for grins too. Next time. Glad you guys had a good match and the weather spared you.
