WOW! What an inspirational story.....That really is amazing!

That young man has an iron will and the heart of a lion- and proved it. Even better that he sounds so determined to help others and teach them that anything is possible.....Thanks for sharing.

10 min 2 mile? Geez, even when I was my lightest(I was down right skinny at 225) and running almost everyday, I never came close to that.

In the Marines the PFT is 3 miles. Best time was 17:54.
I could do 2 back to back 5 minute miles fairly easy, but that 3rd mile was always a bitch.

That doesn't compute. If you could run even sub 10:30 for two miles, sub 17:00 should have been a snap (probably closer to sub 16:30).

Regarding the OP, that is an incredible accomplishment.

Back in highschool, my football coach used to tease me that he was going to time my 40 yrd sprint with a sun dial. I've never been what you would call, "fast." ;)

It does take quite a lot of strength to carry 250 lbs. Just think how many pull ups you could do carrying 60% of your bodyweight.

    .

We didn't get time to practice and work out the details of how hard and fast to run to fine tune it. We'd PT in various ways everyday, and every 6 months we we had our PFT. It's tough to judge when to push and when to coast so you usually just bust your ass the first mile or two and limp to the end.

My roommate in Basic Maxed the PT test, he was in incredible condition. He was a kickboxer that beat the living crap out of a guy and was given a choice enlist, or go to jail. The drill sargents used to get all gaga every time he did it.
