State subsidized police protection for NOLA? You know who is picking up the tab for this?
What about Bogalusa? Their 23 yo mayor wants to disband the local PD completely. Landry going to send more LSP units there too?
“We’re going to bring as much of a law enforcement presence into this city as necessary to keep all of this city safe,” Landry said in November."

Disbanding the local PD is not a BLM type decision. It's a financial decision. The goal isn't to replace the police with social workers. The goal is to replace the police with police. If the local pd were disbanded, the city would enter into a contract with the parish sheriff and have them patrol the city. The city has a police force of about 33. The most they could average on patrol at any given time is 8 officers. And that's not accounting for any police employees that may not work patrol.

Trying to mimic the 90’s Giuliani cleaning up Net York era.

The State Police were in New Orleans before. It didn't mimic the 90's Giuliani cleaning up New York era. But there were other factors in place back then that may have had a dramatic effect on crime that either nobody likes to talk about or that nobody considers. What if the drop in crime in that era didn't have as much to do with the policing techniques as it had to do with the criminals just not being there to commit crimes? The Roe v Wade decision happened in 1973. A large percentage of people having abortions were young, single mothers with low incomes. A large percentage of the criminals in that era came from young, single mothers with low incomes.

I don’t see any negatives there. Anybody got a better idea? Bust the levee ? Nuke it? I’ll wait.

We know busting the levee doesn't work.

Lol, idk bro, I heard they were stealing buses and relocating to Houston.
Seriously though, some may see his announcement as big talk, but did he say it before or after he’d won the election? Also, I can’t imagine anyone but criminals being opposed to the willingness to actually do something about what’s been going on for years. How you gonna badmouth someone for doing something positive? What’s the cost got to do with it? Would it be better to just leave it alone til it’s time to call on the National Guard? Just trying to figure out what the down side to this could be or why anyone would denounce any effort to get a handle on what’s going on in NOLA. Standing on the sidelines and heckling the quarterback sure ain’t gonna help.

At least one of the Troopers from L that worked with us in the Slidell area is transferring to the NOLA Troop. Something like 8-10 go-getter line troops, and he described a fair amount of brass covering operations, admin, judicial liaising, media liaising, etc. They're two-manning it, and will be jumping back and forth from uniform to plain clothes, marked/unmarked, suiting up as needed for the day's assignment or come what may.
