Going to be a cat 1, im not in a rush to go anywhere.Surprised at how clear the roads were on my commute this morning. Nobody on the interstate at all o.O I'd expect at least a little traffic as people head west but it seems nobody is taking the storm seriously yet.
Maybe a cat1 unless is intensifies. The Saffir-Simpson scale is based on wind alone. It does not factor in surge, overall size of the storm, etc. The forecast path is a REALLY bad track for NOLA and all nearby areas, putting them squarely in the NE quadrant. All those E/SE winds will be pushing the surge in through Mississippi Sound, Lake Borgne, etc. Isaac may not have the wind velocity, but it is a BIG storm, as shown by the wind field diagram:Going to be a cat 1, im not in a rush to go anywhere.
