Getting my Airstream better equipped to "Boondock" (Stay out without being on the grid) I am replacing the lighting with LED's.

After much research, me and a buddy wired these up last night:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QQ48TK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Wired them in using these:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0062RBR84/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(You cut them in 1/2, so there are 8)

Use electrical tape to secure the strips to the connectors.

You can cut the LED's into any length (Sections of 3) use the first 3 as a 'test light'
The LED's have sticky tape on the back side so they can go nearly anywhere.

I am VERY HAPPY with the amount of light they put out. Both shielded and not shielded.
Don't know what the power usage is, but I know it's alot less than my Florescent lights.

I WILL be ordering more for the rest of the airstream, and when I build, I'll be using them.

Ok, It's being a pain getting them in order so I'll do several posts:

    1. Connector

    2. Connector cut in 1/2, wires stripped

    3. Open to expose 'slot'

    4. Sliding LED strip into connector

    5. LED strip under prongs.

-Note, I had to cut off the 'latch' and tape it with electrical tape to get it to work.

Sorry for the quality, this is 'after the fact' wasn't planning on documenting it.

    6. Cut off latch, taped it in to hold it secure.

    7. Wired into system.

Not saying it's the best, but I did LOTS of looking, and it's the best I found.

Looked at LED bulbs originally, they are EXPENSIVE.

These can be wired in anywhere, in any size. (And the tape on the back is VERY nice)

I am planning on doing something similar in my safe. Can you fix the link in the OP saying what you used to wire them? Both Liz are to the LEDs

Yeah, sorry Nomad, the prongs worked on my test set at home before I came out to the Airstream, so I'm not sure why we had to cut off the snap cover with the prongs. At least we got them working even with the little bit of color coding mix-up ;)
