LSU 2-sport athlete Chad Jones has been involved in a car crash in New Orleans.

WWL.com columnist Jeff Palermo talked with Jones' father, who was headed to the hospital. Alfred Jones confirmed his son was hurt, but said he was alert when paramedics took him to the emergency room.

Jones won national championships with the LSU football team and the Tiger Baseball team. He played defensive back, punt returner and pitcher.

The New York Giants drafted Jones in the NFL and the Milwaukee Brewers picked him in the Major League Baseball draft.

Wow, the speed limit there is 30 or 35. Seems like you would have driving alot faster than 35 for that type of damage. Looks like a ford truck, but you can't really tell.

"WWL-TV in New Orleans is reporting that Jones suffered a fractured left leg, with arteries and nerves exposed. They report he is in critical condition and was in surgery as of 10:15am."

He was listed in guarded condition at a hospital in New Orleans.

LSU football coach Les Miles has heard about the news and posted the following update on his Twitter account:

"Just got news about Chad Jones' car accident. We are praying for Chad and his family. Keep him in your prayers."

Downgraded from Critical Condition to Guarded Condition. He was alert when they got him to the hospital. He allegedly fell asleep at the wheel after a long flight back from NYC.

Jones, 21, suffered a fractured left leg and had arteries and nerves exposed, officials told WWL-TV’s Juan Kincaid. He was listed in critical condition and was in surgery at 10:15 a.m.
