Nice rifle Matrix!! Most of the last batch of service grades have been high percentage of correct/as issued and not mixmasters. Looks like you got a winner.

Not trying to pry, but what did it set you back?

I even have some old surplus black tip ammo....My Grandfather had this stuff from waaaaay back when.....even have some in the M1 clips

Mine is a Springfield Amory Service Grade. I paid $595. The downside is I ordered it on 2/21/09 and recieved it last Weds.

We called the range and they told my wife to call back on Tuesday.

I am taking the rifle up to McComb to Doug Bowser at the SW Miss Gun Club. He taught us during thier Garand Clinic back in June. He has all the gauges and is going to go through the rifle with me.

You still have to be a member of an affiliated cliub and meet all the requirements. You just get instant gradification. You can buy a rifle there and have it shipped home and save on the sales tax too.
