I am trying to find a gunsmith in my vicinity(Metairie) that can mount a new Green Mountain 308 Barrel to my 98 action, turn down the bolt handle, and drill and tap for a scope. Also possibly have it blued or parked. I have tried a fellow by the name of Ed DeLorge in Houma, but he says he couldn't get to it until March. I don't mind driving to have it done by someone that does quality work. I have build a few ARs, but don't feel confident about doing this myself.

    Thanks,

I put a .308 Shiloh barral on a K98 receiver and built a nice hunting rifle. I didn't need to modify the Mag. or do anything to the bolt. I have built a .243 and 22-250 cal on the K98 receiver as well with no modifications. The bolt face is the same size and the mag will accept the same size or smaller cartridges Your work should take about 4-5 hrs. with the right equipment.
