Here's one many do not know about. Mossberg Model L made from 1929-1932 and it is the only one mossberg made of this design. Took me 20 or so years to find this one, I have only seen three in person and all where in a museum.
They also sold under the name Wards Western Field and Belknap Blue Grass.
Mossberg never made another of this kind with the Peabody/Martini style action.. The old saying goes Peabody designed it and Martini improved it.
But what sets it apart from the Peabody/Martini is the external hammer and the takedown action. But people still call it a Martini action.
It was also advertised as the fastest loading action of it's time, even in takedown form. It has a spring loaded self locking mechanism when the barrel is inserted into the rcvr. So no fumbling with any latches
