Just thought I'd share these pics and get your guys opinions.
I used the cerakote c-series which requires no baking just air cured.
Since the market is so shitty for buying guns, thought I would try a little hobby to make mine look cool.
This is a el'cheapo Stevens model 320 from Academy that I stripped down, and shot with magpul FDE. It looks really smooth in person, and was real easy to apply. I've never touched an airbrush till 2 days ago.I will probably never shoot this thing so durability will have to be tested on my G23 which I'll paint this week.

    Thanks fellas!
Gonna try out some OD green and graphite black this week on Glocks and PPQ, maybe a 10-22.
We shall see how they last on guns that I actually shoot regularly.

Yes sir, I ordered mine from NIC industries , the manufacturer of Cerakote. They have larger bottles for 1/3 the price.

I know y'all have seen these colors thousands of times, but these are cool to me because I did them myself .

With a little prep work, this is a real easy way of refinishing guns. I must admit, they came out smooth as hell.

I guess I'm just bragging about Cerakote and hope some of y'all try it for shits and giggles. After all, who wants to pay 2k for a bushmaster right now? Might as well try something new.

This graphit black is freaking sick !
My favorite of the 3 colors I've tried.

Ha ha, curious myself. As u know I'm sure, the bottom of slide on these Glocks really don't ride on the polymer frames, so I'm thinking this will hold up fairly well.....
I racked it about 40 times and not a mark so far.
I sprayed another lower and kinda laid it too thick in some spots. Looked like ****. So I sanded down with 400 grit and only the high edges would come off. The rest of cerakote stayed pretty well intact. so that's a good sign, so far.

im not a fan of refinishing the frames, it just feels different. i would be interested to find out mroe about a different process i caught wind of, Its a dye if i recall right and covers more than just the surface and penetrates into the frame slightly, so when it gets scuffed up its still that color.

    something i heard in passing.

    looks good though, real clean.

Hmmm, I can't seem to find anything on that dye . Just keep pulling up paintball ****. :(

Interesting though! Let me know if u find anything on it, I'm willing to try that out also.
    Thanks

You can dye plastic with rit dye and hot water. I have dyed light color parts dark, but not the other way.

Not sure if the ceracoat has adhesion promoter, but you should use that on any plastic parts, after degreasing the crap out of them.

I use auto epoxy primer, lightly thinned with acetone. For about 30 bucks I can get 3 pints of the stuff, enough to do all of the guns I have ever seen. I have a thread about that stuff around here somewhere. I need to post some results pics. It really makes for a nice finish.

As far as durability goes, paint is paint. I have heard that gun kote is the best for durabilty. Any paint beats park or blue, and if you scratch it you can always blast and reapply.

That process seems as if you'd have room for being inconsistent with shades of colors.( maybe not??)
At least with cerakote I know I'll get the same shade on every job.

Also according to Cerakotes site, the paint is made for high heat ratings.
I'm not sure if dyes will withstand those conditions.
    But we will see...

Hate to revive a dead thread, but did you ever cerakote your ppq? I am considering having mine done. I have searched around a bit but i cant seem to find any pictures of cerakoted ppqs. was curious how yours turned out.
