My future father-in-law gave me his Marlin 336 in 35 Remington a few months ago. I personally haven't shot it yet but plan on it very soon. I personally love this rifle. It has been kept very well. I pulled the scope off because I'm not sure if I want a scope or not. If I do decide on a scope I will probably get a better one. Anyway...I am just showing off a bit. Thought I would see what you all have to say.

He also gave me a Ruger GP100 .357 revolver. My Fiancee got the Winchester '94 in 30-30.

That rifle is pretty classic,I wouldn't kick it out of my bed, but you can't really see it in the picture. Here is a vid of hickok shooting one just like that [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGG6n4UGRGY[/ame]

I like hearing these "dowry" stories; a buddy of mine has a father-in-law that gave him a 69 camaro rs.

Yeah I know it's not a really great pic. But it is in pretty good shape. I looked the serial number up and it dates bake to 1956 (I think). Anyway...I can't wait to shoot it.

That is one of the worst rifles ever made. I will do a favor for you and give you $20 for it. The money will be spent on having it properly disposed of.

Yank the glass off and install a Williams peep sight. Nice rifle.

My thought exactly. I have Williams sights on both of my lever actions - much easier to stalk stealthily thru brush - and, the way I hunt/shoot anything over 100 yards is really pushing it. Where I hunt, a scope gives you a real good picture of lots of leaves.

Oh yeah, nice rifle! If it's at all like the Marlins I've had, you'll never wear it out.

Where I'll be hunting this year it will be much in the same way. I have nothing but good things of Marlins so I am hoping it lasts another 50 years.

    Real nice ""A""model 336 you've got there,,,I've always wanted an ""A"" model,,,I'd put a real clear 2 1/2 X on it for a 1st class woods rifle;)

    So just an update...
I finally got to sight this thing in. My decision is to take the scope off (not that it was a good one anyway). I think I shoot iron sights better anyway. I have always used iron sights and only used scopes a hand full of times. Does that make me weird? Anyway...I absolutely love this rifle. It is dead on accurate and I like the sturdiness of the weapon. I also shot my fiancee's Winchester model '94. As far as the action I think her rifle is smoother than mine. Anyway...just an update.

If you're interested in some good glass for it, I have a 3x Weaver Widefield, rings, and base for it. Will make you a helluva deal on it.

And no, BS Nazis, I'm not gonna post a pc of it.
