New to Louisiana!

Howdy out there,

Was very happy to find this site. Just moved down here from Georgia and need to find an instructor to get my CC asap. Back up there all we had to do is show up to the courthouse with $70 and a clean criminal history and you got your permit mailed to you.

Anyway, if anyone could point me in the right direction to getting my permit that would be highly appreciated. I live a little ways outside of the city (Pointe Coupee), but I assume the Baton Rouge area would be the place to do it.

Great site, glad to be a part of it.

Oh and my current carry of choice is a Springfield XD SC 9mm!

Well that does put quite a damper on things. I've still got to read up on the differences in laws between the states anyway.

There is a CCW class on Aug 20 that is given by dawg23. I highly recommend him.

Glad to have ya just knock out the class first and mark your calendar for 6 months then go turn it in. During that 6 months I would suggest not going around the Thuggin It & Lovin It area.....

You need to read the laws. There are lots of things which are legal to do here that are not legal in other states.

And, our food is better, we have more pecans, and our girls are prettier !

The 6 month residency requirement was removed by Act 242 this year. It goes in to effect on the 15 of August, 2011.
