Night Scope?

My dad wants to but a scope with "night vision" for varmint hunting on his land. We both do not know that much about them besides they cost a lot of $. Just wanted to get an ideal of what to look for, What a good brand is and any other infromation or experiences people may have had with them.

My friend has an ATN first generation that sells for $599. not sure of the exact model. it mounts to a pic rail. I used it once and liked it. I know he's really happy with it as well. someone else here may have more experience with ATN and can chime in on their quality.
