Novelty ammo, because nothing is funnier than a 12 ga. confetti round

I saw this posted on another forum I frequent and was curious as to what some peoples opinions might be. A lot of these look to be poorly made and probably of poor quality. I think someone also mentioned that they seemed quite shorter than normal 12 ga. shells.

Anyways though, does any of this really have viable uses? I honestly am curious to see what their "flare" round, flechette round, and flash bang round would do.

Also would be cool to try out some of the other rounds on a ballistics dummy ala Mythbusters.


Anyone curious enough to try this out I've got an old 12 ga. that's seen better days and would probably handle the abuse

You can buy some Orion flares at academy, walmart, and most places with a boating section. I, Personally, wouldn't mess around with flares, due to the fire potential, unless you were truly stranded/lost.

as to the other ones, I havent ever shot them, but wondered myself as to what they do. When I was in college, there was a pawn shop I used to go check out that actually had all those on the shelf by their ammo. They even had some exploding targets, but alas, I was a poor college student, and never did buy any, even though I wanted to.

Friend of mine used to make his own confetti 12 ga. loads.

He would terrorize the neighbors by concocting all sorts of 'custom' re-load shells and firing them off in his backyard. Pretty much just used the primers and what ever he could stuff in the shell.
