Obama ISIL Speech -Will Order Air Strikes in Syria and send More Troops

President Obama outlined on Wednesday a long-term plan to "degrade and destroy" the Islamic State
that will include sending 475 more U.S. troops to advise Iraqi forces
and the expansion of airstrikes into the terrorist organization's safe havens in Syria.

On the eve of the 9/11 anniversary,
and more than two years after he ordered the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq,
Obama said in an address to the nation that
"America will lead a broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat."
"Our objective is clear: We will degrade, and ultimately destroy, [the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant]
through a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy," Obama said
in the 14-minute address to the nation from the White House on Wednesday evening.

He even used Bush's old line...'No Safe Haven'

Why does this pretender continue to gloss over the religious angle of why these psycho's are doing this? It's not only pathetic; it's infuriating and insulting.

Who in the world believes there are moderate muslims that are ardent opposition to the idea of a caliphate. Maybe they all don't want to achieve it the same way; but they ALL want it! And they are against these psycho's because these muslim psycho's will cut their moderate muslim heads off too!

He's going to try and do it strictly with air power from the US and let a coalition of other countries put the boots on the ground (aside from our almost 1000 "advisors" there already). Which of course means JSOC units... the 106th, Combat Controllers, PJs, Special Forces, Green Berets, SEALs, etc.

This leaves him free to utilize these "advisors" in any and every capacity... quiet and clean and without scrutiny. Then if anything goes bad, "we were never there" and any US operators involved that lost their lives, did so in a training accident or in an aircraft mishap.

the United States will pursue a comprehensive strategy to degrade and ultimately destroy Isil, including US military action and support for the forces combating Isil on the ground.

He never says they will be our troops "combating Isil on the ground"... YET!

It's actually a tactically sound on a number of levels (the way these units SHOULD be utilized). If he came out stating that these units were there or headed there, the world/congress would wait for outcomes or ask to see results. He's keeping it quiet (FINALLY!)... after outing so many operators in the past. This way, he doesn't broadcast to the enemy what he really has down range, and the US is happy because our troops are safe (or so the American people believe).

Has anyone checked the hiring levels of Tripple Canopy, ACADEMI, KBR, AI, etc. lately? We can channel funds to companies that already have government contracts a lot easier than deploying thousands of troops also.

You know what I would not want/need to know about this operation? That the oil countries in that region being run by the bunch of pussies, who will not publicly denounce these psycho's; are paying for everything behind the scenes.

How about we play that hand for a change? Let these gutless bastards at least supply the money since they never supply any thing else.

Doesn't look like POTUS has a prayer of putting together a coalition. If true, it will impossible to achieve the objectives laid out in the speech. POTUS has spent the last 6 years alienating allies, cozying up to enemies, and domestically alienating our own DoD and 3 letter Intelligence Agencies. Today he is reaping those seeds of discontent and distrust. It is sad.
