    On Saturday, September 16, 2023 we will have our regular monthly eighty-shot NRA Regional Course highpower rifle match.

    On September 17, 2023 the Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club will be sponsoring CMP Excellence in Competition (EIC) Rifle Match. The match program is attached.

    At the completion of the EIC Rifle Match there will be EIC Matches for 22 RF Pistol, Service Pistol, and CMP Revolver. These pistol matches will be directed by club member Michael Cameron at the Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club 50 yd. pistol range.

    Excellence In Competition Rifle Match

    A Civilian Marksmanship Program Service Rifle Tournament

    Match Results



    Fifteen rifle men and women completed in this match with clear and sunny weather. Some very good scores were fired. The match winner was Distinguished Rifleman Chance Cavin with a strong high master score of 491-23X. Chance won a gold achievement pin and will receive a gold first-place medal from the CMP. Second place, a silver achievement pin, and a silver second place medal from the CMP went to Non-Distinguished Rifleman Matthew White with a score of 470-9X. Matthew will be credited with six Excellent in Competition points towards earning his Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge. Third place and First Leather went to James Davis with a score of 462-8X. James will receive a third-place bronze medal from the CMP. James also received for his fine effort the First Leather Award, a new Nosler reloading handbook and the official journal of the M1 Garands Collectors Association. The First Leather Award is for the highest scoring Non-Distinguished shooter not winning Excellent in Competition points.



    A special thank you goes to Sam Beane and Gary Schwabe for running the target pit and verifying challenged scores, Tony Geeck for his technical service with the electronic target system, and Lee Shall for directing the range firing commands.

    In October, Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club will host a three-day event. On Friday the 20th Tony Geeck will conduct a Hearst Doubles format team match. Registration for the team match will open at 0700 and close by 0730, Team entries and entry fee will be accepted on the day of the match.



    The next day on 21 October, Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club will host the Louisiana State High Power Championship. This is open to competitors from all states. Both match and service rifle are eligible. There will be a High Service Rifle award and a High Match rifle award but no distinction between the two in class. Registration will open at 0700 and close at 0800. The registration fee will be $45.00. Pre-registration for the State Championship is encouraged but not required. There will be a meal provided after the State Championship match.



    The next day on Sunday the 22nd Palo Alto Rifle & Pistol Club will host an EIC High Power Rifle LEG match. National Match/50 shot format. Registration opens at 0700 and closes at 0800. Fee will be $20.00 per competitor.
