Para Ordnance P14-45 and American Select

I just purchased a Para Ordnance P14-45 and am planning on reloading 200gr LSWC.
I plan on putting is a 12 or 14 lb recoil spring.
Does anyone have good starting load of American Select.
I have seen everything from 4.2 gr to 5.0 gr.
I do plan on bagging abnd chrono the rounds and wold like a starting point.

Don't go too light on the recoil spring. Start with a 16 lb and shoot for a while before going lighter. A light spring will slow the cyclic rate and may cause malfs.

When I had mine I was running a 12lb recoil spring. The 4.2g AS load is excellent for plinking and target practice. I would suggest just loading up 10 rounds each with differnet powder load weights and test them to see what you like. American Select is a good powder in the 45 ACP and I found it to shoot very clean when I was using it.

I would try the loads with the stock spring first. I shoot a Para 1911 Ltd and a 14.45 LDA. Both of these shoot reduced loads 4.0 Bullseye w/ 200 SWC without any malfunctions.

American Select should be a good powder. I get great results with AA2 and Clays, and AS is right there is burn rate.
