I'm considering an 870 express youth model because my arms just arent long enough to engage a full-size--
Any thoughts on my other options? I want to shoot it at 3-gun.

If you can afford it go semi-auto. If you want to be competitive you will end up changing over anyway. Scan the Louisiana Sportsman Classified section as well as these classifieds you will find a good deal eventually especially when the varying hunting seasons involving shotguns end.

Here is a Rem 1100 BS member Tactical had for three gun with youth stock, I have to admit it is fun as H*ll to shoot and the short stock works out great.

If you have not handled a full size 870 Express, I would give it a try. I recently purchased an 870 Tactical Express and was really surprised at the ease of operation. I thought the pump stroke was surprisingly short.

    Baton Rouge... Mostly
I'm 6 ft with corresponding arms (actually a little longer than normal)

And I take 1.5 inches off my 'Tactical shotguns' stock.

Makes it MUCH more conducive to 'move and shoot'

Buy a Paun shop Shotgun, and a hacksaw, tape up the stock (To prevent cracks)
    And go to town.

So one of the guys graciously allowed me to shoot his 11-87 20 ga youth size today and it sure was sweet. (as was the Benelli 12 ga but that gave me a sweet bruise on my arm)

Anyone know where I could get one for cheap? or an 1100? I want to get my ass together to not come in last at 3 gun next time.

You have caught the bug huh: I found my shotgun here: http://www.louisianasportsman.com/lpca/index.php?section=classifieds thanks to goldendragon and have bought all of my competition gear off of the brianenos classified forum. Most of those guys are real serious competitors so they have a lot good stuff that they are getting rid of. You should check out the shotgun section and another very popular shotgun is the FN SLP -

thanks for all the advice - still looking for used 1100/11-87 youth so I don't have to do much of the work myself. Might even suck it up and get a decently priced new one...they are turning out to be rather hard to find though.
