Private sales of hand guns???????

I just moved down here not to long ago from California and I am a little confused on the laws concerning private sales for hand guns.
What are the laws regarding private sale's of hand guns? What happens if the person shoots somebody? Are they registered down here? Do you half to do a back ground check?

No registration. Keep a copy of the bill of sale if you sell one, just in case. I like a copy of a drivers license also.
I usually only sell to someone I know, or through a gun shop. If I don't feel totally comfortable selling to someone then I don't sell. I've walked away from money before. What I can't control is who they sell to later.
