Ranges near BR

I'm just curious are there any ranges in the BR vicinity - within 30 minutes or so - that you can join and have 7 day access to?

Sherburne WMA is free to use. But, you are required to have either a fishing license, hunting license, or WMA permit to use the facilities. You also need to stop at the self-clearing station and fill out the permit and put the tag on your dash. The pistol and rifle ranges are open from dusk til dawn 7 days a week (10 am until 5pm during hunting season), come and go as you please. The skeet range has limited hours and I believe you have to schedule it... not sure on that part. Standard range rules apply, so bring your eyes and ears... bring food and water, too. Bring your tent and gear and have a camp-out if you want. Fishing and hunting are free as well, just gotta have a WMA stamp on your license and follow LDWF rules. Great place!!!

Not quite as far out; Hunter's Run Gun Club (in Port Allen, near the foot of the old bridge) is membership-only for pistols/rifles and has an outdoor range: http://www.huntersrungunclub.com/. Have heard bad things about their rinky-dink pistol/rifle range, tho.

Guess I'm spoiled to actually having a gun club here in Jackson and having a couple in Oklahoma City - anyone got some land and wanna start a REAL gun cluB?!?!

Correct on both accounts. Some folks have been looking into steel target or some other type reactionary target, but nothing is settled, yet.
