Ok, so I got this month's issue in the mail (free subscription from somewhere or another). Cover story is exclusive interviews with the two candidates (McCain outright says he is for 'closing the gun show loophole', for those who have been living under a rock). Anyway, Obama is very open- in a mag to gun owners- that he is for an assault weapon ban, citing the 'fact' that AK-47s are evil weapons that are only made to hurt people, and not for hunting.

My first thought is "Why would he grant an interview if he was going to say that? Why not just shut up?"

Then, my next thought, of course, was- because he knows it will WORK!

That is what pisses me off. He knows that, all too often, people will think "Oh, he doesn't want my Winchester 30-30, so that is not really an issue for me. He is more likely to support my America-destroying socialist thuggish Union [or insert another applicable gun-owning Democrat hope-and-change BS rationalization here], so I am still voting for him.

I am tired of hearing "We are all on the same team." That is BS. It would be nice if we were all on the same team, but until people realize that they shouldn't be throwing ANY gun owners under the bus if it suits their little skeet-shooting [or whatever, I skeet shoot, but you get my point] cliques, they are NOT on my team. My team fights for the rights of OTHERS, so that I do not set a precedent that finds it's way back to MY doorstep.

I have an employee from Australia. He was very active in the shooting community there [family runs one of the few remaining gun shops, used to edit a gun rights magazine over there, former Olympic shooting qualifier, etc.]. He is witness to the fact that this is EXACTLY how it happened over there. "Shooting clubs" with mega-bucks saved up to fight bad legislation that LAID AROUND UNSPENT as their nanny-state took their guns, because "they weren't coming for our guns." Now look at them. Every time one of us posts pics of our newest builds on some gun forum, they just have to sit and post "Looks great, wish I could have one."

Look, I know about how "we must all hang together, or we shall surely hang separately." I have been accused of not knowing that in the past for posting this kind of stuff. But we need to WAKE UP! Call a spade a spade. It is not me who does not realize that. I am trying to defend my guns AND theirs. It is THEM who do not realize that.

Let us draw a line in the sand and invite them to cross it, but let's not pretend the line is not there. If you vote away my EBR, you are just letting them get one step closer to your precious Ruger. You are NOT my friend, though you could be. I want you to be, but I will NOT pretend that you already are.
