Gun not at fault for Belcher's acts

    Jen Engel article

    Excerpts:

This is not simply about guns. This is about rights. It is a slippery slope from doing something in the interest of public safety to giving up what we hold dear. The slope is greased with fear, with a self-righteous belief that we know better than the framers of the Constitution. And it is all based on informal fallacy.
These are the “inalienable rights” of the Declaration of Independence, and when we give them up voluntarily, for whatever reason no matter how altruistic, what we find is all we have done is given more rights to the government that were intended for us.

A couple reader comments I thought were amusing:
Statistics suggest that 90 out or every 100 Americans are armed. This problem needs to be treated seriously. We need to find a way to arm those other 10 people.
The fact that we even have this debate shows that there are those in society that are perfectly willing to accept the dire consequences of leaving their fellow citizens to the machinations of the people with whom they would entrust power. It is true ignorance of history, and it is abhorrent to the very core of a nation where all power lies in the hands of the individual.
Banning guns will not stop that - nor will driving drunk stop people from killing innocent people with their cars - nor will banning knives stop someone from stabbing someone to death. We have a PEOPLE problem - NOT A FRICKING GUN PROBLEM!!!

...and Rand Pauls's floor speech in defense of the Sixth Amendment - Due Process - that she makes mention of in the article:

Thanks for the article. It's a shame that people will use tragic events to benefit their own agendas. As the author mentioned though- this is not the first time nor will it be the last. On that note- I have lost a great deal of respect for two journalists I once enjoyed (costas and whitlock). It's one thing to have a point of view and support it, but it's another to hitch your view to a horrific event in hopes of riding the wave of fear.

amen... my main purpose of posting was that the media provider (in this case, Fox) may not specifically have the views of the individual writers. They too have a freedom of speech, as noted in very conflicted views from two separate writers. Neither of which I had any personal feelings for or experience with, prior to this shooting.

....... They too have a freedom of speech.............

Which they would vociferously defend, all the while gleefully denying you the same. If they could get away with it. Its not just that they are stupid; they are dedicated enemies of liberty, except their own. Textbook definition of a tyrant.

The only way liberals can further their agenda. Lies, cohesion, and slander. This is a brain washing technique. Repeat something over and over again. Think about it.
I have a plan to deal with this. Divide America into a Conservative half and a Liberal half. Wait and let the liberals disarm their public. Then the conservatives can cross into the liberal country armed and push them into Mexico or Canada. We are taking it back now you pinko bastards. :mamoru:

"Liberty and democracy are not the same things.

Democracy means the majority decides what rules govern us. Liberty is the idea that we all have certain rights that cannot be taken away, not even by a majority. These are the “inalienable rights” of the Declaration of Independence, and when we give them up voluntarily, for whatever reason no matter how altruistic, what we find is all we have done is given more rights to the government that were intended for us.

Doing so makes us less safe, not more."

    Very well said.

Anyone see this? This is a pretty good illustration of the lunatic left on this topic, IMHO.....

Guest Erik Rush acts like a gentleman during the spot. The other guest (radio host Leo Terrell ) acts like a loud-mouth jerk and tries to drown Rush out with his angry tantrum.

Funny how Mr. Terrell supposedly favors gun control to "stop violence"- yet appears to be someone who can't control his own temper. Hmm. :dogkeke:
