I have a friend looking at a used Remington 700 in .222 and it's in excelent condintion with no scope and standard barrel and wood stock. Does anyone know a price range on these in .222? I am not sure of its year of manfacture.

    Thanks!

There is a LOT of variation among the Rem 700's - what year is it, what particular type is it (ADL, VTR, Sendero, etc) can vary its value by quite a bit! More detail or pics would help us give you a better estimate.

I'm seeing them on gunbroker for $500-700, and that jibes with what I would guess-timate. It's probably a nice rifle.

The good news is that .222 is not expensive, is an accurate round, and is easy to make cases from .223. Also when the barrel gets "shot out" or he wants too, a gunsmith will be able to convert it to .223 by just cutting the old chamber with a .223 reamer (ive done it). The down side is that .222 has a slow twist barrel and he will be limited to 45-55 gr bullets.
Id give $400 for the gun sight unseen, $500 if it has a bull barrel or other enhancements.
