Arriving tomorrow for the Gator and staying at the Best Western at US90 / LA24. Won't be able to get to a restaurant or other eating place until 8:30 or 9PM.

    Recommendations please.

They've got a few restaurants on canal blvd near the walmart, a spahrs on west 4th, bubba's II on hwy 308, "That place" on hwy 1, on the bayou side. The last 3 are pretty good, the ones on canal blvd are all chains. If you're willing to go to houma there is a lot more there, especially samurai dragon which is probably the best sushi I've ever had.

Editing this post to just give some suggestions on Thibodaux restuarants:

    • Grady V's- excellent American-style food, best burgers you'll get anywhere around here. Their brisket nachos will change your life
    • The Foundry- good American-style food, great night life
    • Pepper's- the best pizza you've had. In downtown, so again, great night life
    • Geaux Fish- decent sushi, decent hibachi. Service is hit-or-miss
    • Spahr's- good seafood, not much else good. Downtown
    • Bubba's- good seafood
    • Bubba's 2- pretty damn good po-boys
    • La Casa- pretty good Tex-Mex, but sort of bland
    • La Palma- good traditional-style Mexican. One of my favorites
    • El Paso- good Mexican. Much better location than La Palma
    • Fremin's- very good "fine dining", but expect to pay for it. Downtown
    • Envie- good "fine dining", not as expensive as Fremin's. Excellent brunch
    • We have a couple chain restaurants too. These are meh

That Place shut down several months back when the owner passed away and as far as I know hasn't opened back up. He'll honestly be closer to Houma than Thibodaux staying there. +infinity for Samurai Dragon if that's your flavor

The burgers at The Foundry on Jackson are great, La Casa del Sol next to wal mart is pretty good Mexican food.

You are staying in Gray, LA. My business, Planet Graphics, is across the intersection. You are ten minutes from anything good to eat. Tell us what types of food you like and we will steer you right!

Thats a shame. I haven't been that way in a while, used to know everywhere to eat when I was doing land surveying, now that I'm working in people's houses I skip lunch to get finished earlier.

Thanks to all for the info. It does seem like Houma is closer.

OneStory - I think that both of us try to "eat healthy". Seafood is probably my top choice but the main thing is to avoid chains and have a decent meal so we'd put quality above type of food. One of my concerns is that places close on the early side so we won't have as many options. Do you commute to Gray from Covington? That would rival any nasty urban commute.
