I was told that its not good to shoot steel cased ammo in the RR uppers cause its forged Aluminum, and the steel cases will mess it up. Any truth to this? Asking cause I picked up a couple hundred rounds of steel ammo today

the cases do not touch your upper. THey go from the magazine into the barrel extension, and then into the chamber. also, if you think about it, your BCG is steel, and moves back and forth through the aluminum upper as well.

Only problem you may run into is a stuck case if you do not clean out your chamber with a chamber brush really good.

Dunno. I just was told that you don't shoot them in AR's in general b/c they're usually lacquer coated and that stuff ends up melting and gunking the barrel. Also if you don't clean it soon after it will crust up in it. I have a RRA A4(M4)tactical carbine, but have never used them cus of hearing that.

While I personally don't like to shoot steel cased ammo (I have), I don't think it could hurt the AR, maybe get the chamber dirty, but damage.....I don't think so.

There's no difference in the RRA upper that would make it easy to damage when using steel cased ammo as compared to any other brand, somebodys trying to blow some smoke somwhere.......... you know where! :)

Just upgrade your extractor spring, extractor buffer, and D-fender/oring etc, this is less than $25, to be 99% reliable

This is from somone who has shot several cases of wolf/brown bear/etc thru AR's, it will be fine.

Here we go again . If you want match grade accuracy , shoot match grade ammo . If you want to save money and punch paper , shoot steel cased ammo .
WOLF is NOT lacquer coated . My Bushmaster eats the stuff with NO modifications .
If you have steel cased ammo and are afraid to shoot it , sell it to me .

I've had 5 different AR's and all of them ate anything I put in them. Don't drink the Koolaid !

If you do, sell me your ammo, not Dan.
