For a few months now I have been reading lots of old articles and writings of people like Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, John Taffin and more. I have become enamored with the .44 special. After looking around at whats out there I decided I wanted a Flattop Ruger Blackhawk with a Bisley grip and 5.5" barrel.

Now, Ruger was just about to make some .44 specials way back in the day when the .44mag came out so they scratched the idea all together. Fast forward many years later (I think around 2003) Lipsey's in Baton Rouge finally convinced them to make some Flattop Blackhawks in .44 special. These were done in limited runs and people must like them who have them because they don't come on the market all that often. Especially the Bisley ones with the 5.5" barrel.

After posting want adds all over the place and watching Gunbroker like a hawk one finally popped up and so I snatched it out pretty quick.

My dies came in today. Just waiting on the other components to come in so I can start loading for it.

Wanting to load up some Skeeter Loads with Keith style bullets.

Anyone on here cast a 245-250g Keith Style Bullet?

Great gun there, and as you said hard to find.
You were lucky to find that.
I am a big fan of the Ruger Bisley, but just have 2.
Had a 5.5" Ruger Bisley (AccuSport) 45acp/45 Colt.
The 45acp is a great target shooter with 185 grain full wad cutters (Ideal-Lyman 452389 Mold) and light loads.
I have to stay off Gunbroker so I don't end up with 3.

Haha....yeah, I know what you mean.
I had a Super Blackhawk many years ago and traded it off but here in the last couple months I have been more and more into the Blackhawks and in the last month I have got myself a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag Bisley 7.5" Barrel, Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt 4 5/8" Barrel and now this Lipsey's Bisley Blackhawk 44 spl.

I like it. While not blackhawks i now have 2 vaqueros. My first was a 5.5" bisly model .357. Just yesterday picked up a vaquero 45acp birdshead from a fellow member. I really like the single actions. Need to get me a lever 357 to round out the collection.

Very nice. I have a few of the Vaqueros also. I prefer the original vaqueros over the new vaqueros but I have a few of both. Here is my original vaquero with the Birdshead grip

I really enjoy the 44 special.
I took a couple hogs with mine in January.
