I'm hoping simple tools and a little borrowed advice from the forum will fix.

Walther P22- like new in that its never been fired. Problem is that Safety off- it fires, and Safety on- it fires. what gives??

Great little gun and I LOVE the feel of the walthers (i have a few, including my edc P99) but the malfunctioning safety annoys me because I'd like to give it to someone, but I don't want to gift a "broken" gun.

Any tips for a mechanically challenged wabbit?

    You contradict yourself.

You say it has never been fired, then you say it fires with the safety on.

    Which is it?

(I know the real answer to your question. It's not broken.)

I didn't think I'd have to spell it out on a gun enthusiast forum, but i'll oblige.

the hammer still drops without a round in the chamber- aka, "dry firing"

and no, i didn't load it and try- but my other walthers don't do this so my knee jerk was a malfunction- but to your credit, no, I didn't put rounds in it.
