Shooting for kids, North LA

I have a 12 y.o. son who is interested in shooting. So I'm looking for some "formal" training. Of course I'm taking him to a range but can't give him more than very basics in gun safety and shooting fundamentals. So any info about classes/programs etc. in West Monroe area would be greatly appreciated.

Call the 4-H. They have shooting activities all over the state.

Posting in this thread just to be able to refer back to this. I work in Lincoln Parish and live in Webster. I also have a growing boy and two daughters a few years older that love shooting. Some formal training would be a great experience for them.

If your kid is interested, there is a USPSA match 4th Sunday of the month @ Winnsboro Gun Club. Get in touch with Terry or Kathy at Diamond Gun. Alex Larche is a very good junior shooter from Bastrop who shoots with us. Hope to see you there.

Look into a wildlife and fisheries approved hunters safety course. That was my main safety training as a kid, outside of what my family routinely drilled me on.
