I am selling my Short Turkish Mauser (1945 Ankara K. Kale) chambered in 8 mm. These rifles are less common than the standard Turkish long mausers and were rebuilt from WWI German carbines (KAR 98a). This is a solid rifle with matching serial numbers on receiver, bolt, magazine, sight base, and sight leaf. I have cleaned and removed the cosmoline from the rifle. It doesn’t appear that much had been done with the rifle since import. The stock and handguard have an oil finish, appears to be original KAR 98a type 1 with modifications to front cap/bayonet lug, and do not appear to have any cracks or major imperfections. The metal under the wood is in very good condition. The bore is very good with sharp grooves and some shine. The bolt and action are smooth. The front sight ring has a small crack on the bottom. It does not appear to affect function and sight blade is brazed. The sight is solid and appears to have been repaired prior to import since I cleaned cosmoline from it. Just more character and history for a very old rifle. I am asking $350. I am located in the Baton Rouge area. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.
