Yes, I know it is about youth development and not necessarily about competition. However a big shout out to the Louisiana 4H Shooting Sports team at the recent 4H National Matches held this past week in Nebraska. Team Louisiana was #1 in the nation (again).
It starts with volunteers and youth in each parish. Youth are ages 9 thru 18 and practice locally. Then there are the Northern and Southern Regionals, to qualify for State competition. Probably over 1000 youth statewide participate. From the best at state, teams are chosen to go to Nationals. This year there were 42 States and over 700 competitors (in 9 disciplines) at Nationals.
The results for 2023:
Smallbore Rifle: #1
Smallbore Pistol: #1
Air Pistol: #9
Air Rifle: #1
Compound Archery: #4
Recurve Archery: #6
Hunting Skills: #1
Muzzleloading: #7
Shotgun: #3
Sweepstakes: #1
Congratulations to all!
