Which SKS are better than others and drawbacks? What are the main things you should know to properly maintain one. I have a chance to get one at a very good deal with extras not sure, but think it is a Yugo. Figured I would get advice here before I see it, I am told it is unfired mint.

Out of the entire pile, my BF's Yugo SKS with all original parts is my favorite to shoot. I cannot recommend it any more than that. I find it much more fun than the AR and much less painful than the Nagant. It's a nice in between gun.

    It's a lot of fun, and I don't think you'll regret it.

    That should be:
    Yugo < Chinese < Russian

And that is in both value and function/reliability.
Yugos do not have chrome lined bores.
I currently own at least one of each.

I haver a Chinese and I love it. Never had a problem with it. Been owning it for over 10 years. Have folding stock, bayonet, scope, the works and I love it!!
