Smart Guns?

I can see their logic here, but I just don't see how it's going to make a dent in the "Crimes committed with stolen guns" department with all the guns that are out there now. Are they going to make us get our "older" guns fitted with "smart gun" technology? Rediculous. I can see it now, you've got dirt on your hands from working and you grab your gun for defense and the fingerprint scanner doesn't let you fire it. What do you do? Tell the criminal "Wait a sec, I gotta wipe my hands before I can use my gun."

New Jersey passed a law back in 2002 that requires them to only sell smart guns within 3 years of a smart gun being for sale anywhere in the U.S. That time is apparently here for them.

It sometimes takes me upwards of 5 attempts, never less than two, to get the fingerprint scanner at my daughter's daycare to recognize me. I'd really hate to have to deal with that on a gun.
