When is a snake not a snake? When it's a Lizard.....yep that's right, found this dude dead in my back yard (think either the dog or cat got em) took several googles to discover it is a legless lizard. Never seen anything quite like it skin was super smooth like a skink's it was about 26-28 inches long and had iridescent blue speckles all over it, freaky looking critter. Since everyone here digs snakes took some pics for ya'll.

Well, there's something you don't see every day!

Cool find! Too bad it's dead!

If it's still fresh, you can put it in a mason jar full of alcohol or formaldehyde (if you can score some), for your kids.

Yep, legless lizard or glass lizard, they usually stay hidden in loose soil or leaves.
Make good pets, they sell for $50-$100 bucks at reptile shows.

They call them glass lizards because when a predator grabs them by their tail they can break it off by hitting it on the ground and shatter it, it will then grow back.

That is an interesting looking creature, although if I saw it, it would get classified as a snake and probably die via shovel.

My ex wife had ears & eyelids and was a snake..... just sayin
    LMAO!

Soooooo! She made a den in your rectum, eh?

    Financially speaking, of course! :p
I sometimes wonder how you come up with everything you say man...

I knew what they were, my brother had one as a kid, never knew why they were called glass lizards though.
Rather slow moving compared to a snake but also rather docile.

Guess I should stop moving my unwanted reptiles to the Harrison Ave. area. Sorry.

Actually I have a healthy owl and hawk population and rarely see a snake. Cool pic. Thanks for sharing.
