I do at times, with an open sight rifle standing, sitting & prone. I mainly check my natural point of aim (position) and focus on front sight. On a scoped rifle I do the same.

Also with a hand gun. I mainly try to practice sight alignment, steadiness and concentration on the front sight,

With both I don't do it enough and feel I have not figured out how to do it well.

I do it to practice draw stroke, and use snap caps. Hang a target or aim at something on the wall, stroke the trigger and watch the front sight. It should remain on target all the way through the shot and trigger reset. Recock, reholster and repeat.

In my opinion the most important thing is do it like you mean it. You want to rack up repetitions of a legit draw and shoot exactly like you'd do at the range or in real life.

I do it all the time, both as a training tool and since I'm 23 and live by myself i run around my house blasting invisible badguys and reloading behind my couch : ).

(for training, I do it for trigger control and barrel waiver)
