They have came to my house before over a past member who was killed by cops…. And they knew a lot more than I figured they would know… lol but they were real cool and only wants certain info about the perp…

I can imagine that if someone here sold him the gun that he used to kill his girlfriend/pointed at cops, they will probably get a visit from the ATF. Its happened to me in the past over an AR lower that I traded to someone on the board that was used in a shooting.

They are very proactive in their effort to find bad guys. Perceived or fabricated.

I met David a few times and talked with him at some length. He was a hk fan for sure, and he did have quite a bit of knowledge about guns. He seemed calm and level head-ed, and nothing he said made me question him... Guess his last day was a bad one. Sorry to see it end that way.

I wouldn't shy away from doing business with folks on here. My situation was I traded a AR lower to someone here on BS, and ended up being bought and sold 5 or 6 more times before it was stolen from its last owner. The ATF was just trying to track down the chain of ownership.

For the folks on the fence about doing deals, I can tell you this. All the ATF needs is a full name and a phone number. No DL's numbers or the like. If you want to do deals, just do a simple bill of sale and save it somewhere safe.
