I figured I would post a, few pictures of some Surpluss.
My father had stated he shot 22lr when in service in Mossberg 44 and Remington 513T
I have bought it as surpluss (Winchester and Remmington) and had it as old as 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. These are the newest stuff I have opened thus far 1995.
I guess is, shooting this stuff with adaptors instead of 5.56 to save $
Anyine here shoot this stuff while in the Military?
Seems old as it is always been Standard Velocity 22lr not High Velocity.
As you can see it's packed for the long hall storage.
22lr bolt guns, Ruger 10/22, Sig 522 all the MK-1,2,3.
And various revolvers eat it up
    Anyway few pictures

That’s so cool. Never came across any myself but have heard it exists. I follow a couple of YouTube channels that are all about older 22 rimfire guns. To my understanding if the information they provide and echo is true the military typically used 22lr as trainer aids for competitive shooting and marksman.

If you’re interested in this type of stuff or anything with older 22s
Cumberland outdoorsman is a good channel to follow.

Also milsurp garage. He’s not 22 specific and a smaller channel but has videos on both of the rifles you mentioned.

I think it was Remington Target. I think cracking the sound barrier may affect accuracy.
I think this was rated at 1070fps.
The last of it i bought was, 2012 or 2013 from CMP.
Cost was $90.00 plus shipping of $12.00
I pooled money with my father and got 9 cases (45,000rnds) of the last offering CMP had of it. He shot countless rounds of it. He joked about having a life time supply of 22lr. As he had other 22lr too.
He sure tried to use it up in his.
(1954) Remington 513T that has Redfield globe and peep sight.
    (1934) Marlin Model 39,
My bull barrel Ruger MK 1 I loaned him.
A Single Six, and an old 3 Screw Bear Cat.

Man that is awesome! I wish my dad would have a stash of any kind of ammo lol…. Growing up we just replaced what we shot and had a normal amount of hunting ammo. I remember back when I was a kid he bought 2 sks rifles for like $150 for both and ended up selling them a long time ago. It was the same way with AK’s… I would do that for my son now, but everything is just too expensive!

Shot a bunch of it on an Army Reserve pistol team in the early 80s. Most was Winchester white box labeled standard velocity match. Some was Remington target in the old blue and green boxes. It was reliable and more accurate than I was.

I'm with 340 on this stuff. I was purchasing 5000rd cases for 125 shipped to my door about the same time or perhaps a little later. Purchased 10 cases over a year. I still have some cases somewhere around here. It's like standard velocity ammo and suppresses well.
