I've had this thing for 5 years, shot a lot of matchs, and practice, I think its got around 85000 to 90000 rounds down the barrel, today I noticed a small crack in the slide, was hoping it was the finish, but after another mag, the crack got bigger and went to the other side :wtc: so, off the a smith to get a fresh top end

Well Joey, you know darn well when you have the slide lightened to make it cycle faster and move faster toward the target, something sooner or later is going to give. And 90K ain't too bad considering those are major loads.

So don't cry young fellow, I'll loan you one if you need it before yours come back home.

Thanks Buddy, I might just shoot production, all I need is a couple more mags and a holster, I have a PO-1
If that doesn't work out, I'll take you up on that.

I'm hoping I can get the work done before the 28th, thats when I leave for Blue Ridge, and I want a back up with me

Kind of ironic that we were talking about Steve's gun breaking the lower in half that day. Probably good that you noticed the crack when you did though.

Unfortunately the lighter they are the faster they fail sometimes. Apparently you got a lot of rounds through it though. Dfeinitely follow up on Spanky's suggestion, and maybe look at a 6 inch slide, I'll never go back to 5.
